TEETH WHITENING

TEETH WHITENING

A white, bright smile can help create a youthful appearance. We offer a number of different whitening options, depending upon your needs. We recommend that you consult with Dr. Ansari or one of our Hygientists to determine which option is best for you. We may need to perform an exam to determine if your teeth are healthy enough for whitening.

In-Office Only
If you are a candidate for whitening, we may suggest a procedure called chair side or in-office whitening, and it may be completed in as little as one visit. During an in-office whitening procedure, the dentist will apply either a protective gel to your gums or a rubber shield to protect your oral soft tissues. A whitening agent is then applied to your teeth, and a special light may be used to enhance the action of the agent.

Combination In-Office and at Home
Custom whitening products typically come in a gel which is dispensed into a tray or mouthguard. These trays are made by your dentist to fit your teeth precisely. Usage may vary depending on the product. Some products are used twice a day for approximately 2 weeks, while others are intended for overnight use for 1-2 weeks.

At Home
We offer a professional alternative to common over-the-counter whitening options. It's a simple and fast whitening treatment that can also be used for whitening touch-ups. It uses prefilled, disposable trays that don't require impressions or custom trays.

Caring for Your Whitened Smile

There are lots of things you can do to make sure your whitening results last as long as possible, and this will vary from person to person. Typical results will last six months to two years, or even longer. You will want to maintain your usual, routine of brushing and flossing every day and keep up with your regular schedule of professional cleanings at the dental office. Avoid foods and beverages that may stain your teeth, including red wine, tea, and coffee. If you smoke, use your newly whitened teeth as an impetus to quit — a good idea in any event! A minor touch-up every so often, either at home or at the dental office, can keep your smile bright and beautiful for years.
